I went to the Lune River hostel around Feb 2002 and it was burnt down. Some locals told me it had burnt down 4 months prior. I wish it hadn't it looked like it was a nice place.
I spent 2 months camping and hiking all over Tasi.

just brief news from bowen. frieda left me today or better to say i sold her for $900. well, that's some travel money for thailand. will leave from bowen next wednesday to get up to cairns. then on sunday i'll fly down to melbourne. time is flying by...

Just found your page whilst looking for a diary to actually write in! I too am off on my travels in a months time. Off to India over to Nepal and Then Thailand, Cambodia, Loas and Vietnam. I’m really looking forward to it! I am a 29yr Brit male travelling on my own, which I’ve heard is the best thing for meeting people etc.
Anyway just wanted to say that your pictures look great and I hope your finding your new direction with ease...

sometimes i feel like sherlock holmes: there's only the first name of someone on the picture and i have to find country and city... :-)

hier nun also eine Stimme aus der Vergangenheit - kenne naemlich Schleptrup, Engter, Lappenstuhl und so Gedoens.
Offenbar geht's Dir gut und das freut mich sehr. Ich reise zwar nicht so viel wie Du, bin aber auch sehr glücklich und zwar in Bochum.
Ich pflege uebrigens seit ca. 19 Jahren eine Yucca-Palme, die Du mir mal zum Geburtstag geschenkt hast. Sie war damals noch ganz klein. Tja, inzwischen ist sie ein kleines Monster, laengst groeßer als ich - kam halt aus gutem Hause.
Komm weiterhin gut durch die Welt!

anette! es gibt mich noch und Dich sowieso und seit ewigen zeiten habe ich mich einmal wieder vor den compi gesetzt und lese ueber Deine abenteuer.. wollte Dich besuchen kommen in tasmanien, is ja schliesslich nur'n katzensprung, aber habe es noch nicht geschafft - als student in dieser lower-than-low-wage-economy $300 zu sparen ist ein rather unmoegliches unterfangen also wird das wohl erstmal wieder nix. sommer tastet sich voran und ich versuche mir an meinem freien tag (schichtarbeit sucks, I think I chose the wrong profession) ein kostuem fuer stelzenlaufen-performances zu bauen, aeh, naehen.
lustige unterhaltung apropos sex vor der ehe.. die suedliche hemisphere gibt da allerlei anlass zum staunen, was? mich hat letztens wieder jemand gefragt ob es stimmt, dass frauen in d-land manchmal ihren eigenen namen behalten wenn sie heiraten... simone burnside? I don't think so.

stell dir vor, ich verfolge dein Tagebuch schon eine ganze Weile, habe es nur nicht realisiert und mit dir in Verbindung gebracht, als du dann mir gegenüber am Frühstückstisch auf Kecil Island saßt und dich für ein Interview bereit erklärt hast.....Zufälle gibt es. Oder ist die Szene der Reisenden doch nicht so groß, bzw. die Orte zu denen man fährt doch in irgendeiner Form limitiert?

Wie hat sich die SItuation entwickelt, nachdem doch dein zu Hause niedergebrannt wurde? Back in Tasmania? Neuer Job?

Ich wollte dir auch nochmal danken, dass du dich so spontan zur Verfügung gestellt hast, wegen dem Interview!
Hier auch noch ein AUfruf an alle anderen Reisenden hier auf der Site - wer Lust hat mit mir in Kontakt zu treten - ich bin die die rumfährt und Interviews macht und ihre DOktorarbeit über langzeitindividualtouristen schreibt.....!

Leider können wir dir auch keine Stelle als Drama-teacher anbieten. Aber hier im Hot hat sich einiges getan: Dieter is weg! Dafür ist jetzt christian da. Ab 1.10. kriegen wir ne neue Praktikantin: Steffi. Sie ist ne bekannte von Imke.Kann ja nur gut sein! Ab 2002 gibts in Warendorf höchstwahrscheinlich ein Jugendamt. Da können wir dann auf unsere alten Tage alle noch malochen gehen. Irmili will sich auf jeden Fall irgendwann da bewerben. So long! Mach`s gut.
